Nebraska GAP land cover classification detail

Nebraska GAP land cover mapping used the National Vegetation Classification System (NVCS) with 1991-1993 Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) imagery as primary source data.

Imagery was acquired through the Multi-Resolution Land Characteristics (MRLC) Consortium. Preprocessing was done at the Earth Resources Observation Systems (EROS) Data Center. Nebraska GAP map accuracy meets USGS 1:100,000 standards . A total of 18 scenes were needed to cover the state of Nebraska. A multi-date classification technique was developed to generate the land cover map and ancillary datasets were subsequently used to improve discrimination among land types.
